On Sunday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office investigated a one vehicle rollover accident in the 4200 block of Grandview Avenue, southeast of Norfolk that resulted in two teens being taken to Faith Health for treatment. The 13 year old female driver was unrestrained and along with a 17 year old male who was unrestrained in the rear seat. A 13 year old front seat passenger and owner of the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt and declined medical attention. The three were northbound on Grandview when the inexperienced driver lost control and entered the east ditch rolling once. It is unclear if anyone was ejected as the vehicle had been recently modified with the roof being cut off to make it like a home made dune buggy type vehicle. The accident was reported at about 3:00 p.m. The vehicle is now a total loss and reports will be filed with the county attorney’s office to determine if any charges are brought due to the ages of those involved. “Today I observed a vehicle that was unroad worthy and for a lack of a better description a DEATH TRAP, and we are just thankful the three occupants were not more seriously injured or killed.
