On Tuesday night just after 10:00 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was notified of a sexual assault that had just occurred at a Woodland Park residence and that a preteen child had been sexually assaulted and an unknown male had fled from the scene. A suspect vehicle was identified and the vehicle was located in Norfolk and stopped by Norfolk Police. The lone driver a 17 year old male was detained and taken into custody by the Sheriff’s office. The child was treated at the scene by Woodland Park rescue and their care was then undertaken by their parent. The 17 year old male was interviewed and then booked at the Sheriff’s office on charges of Third Degree Sexual Assault. Due to his age he was released to his parent. The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are possible.
