At about 5:59 a.m. on Wednesday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated an accident that involved two semis and trailers near 571st Avenue on Hwy 275 about four miles west of Pilger. The accident occurred when a westbound semi had its trailer come across the roadway and it was struck head-on by an eastbound semi. The trailer then broke apart and partially overturned blocking all of Hwy 275. No injuries were reported and this then led to a westbound UPS semi and trailer jackknifing behind the wreckage in the middle of the highway. The trailer was a complete loss, and the eastbound semi tractor is also considered a total loss. The highway wreckage was finally cleared just after 8:00 a.m. and the highway was reopened. Travel was not recommended on Hwy 275 due to very poor visibility with the high winds blowing snow.
