At about 1:20 a.m. on Friday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office observed a speeding vehicle on Old Hwy 35 near Woodland Park. An an attempt to stop the speeding vehicle led to it accelerating away and quickly turning into Woodland Park at high speeds. The vehicle attempted to avoid contact by making several quick turns on the residential streets before it was finally stopped on Kimberly Way. The driver, Lochlan Simonson, 22, of Norfolk was found to be intoxicated and also had a revoked drivers license. He was placed under arrest and later booked at the Sheriff’s office on charges of Speeding, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, Driving During Suspension, and Aggravated DWI (Above .150% BAC.) after providing a chemical test sample more than twice the legal limit. He was then jailed pending the posting of a cash bond.
