Lucas Gnat of Norfolk is one step closer to fulfilling his dream of being a law enforcement officer. Gnat who is a Pierce native was sworn in on Tuesday evening by Sheriff Unger as the newest Stanton County Deputy Sheriff. Lucas who has a criminal justice degree from Northeast Community College begins his career when he reports this Sunday night for 16 weeks of basic law enforcement training at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in Grand Island. After completion he will finish in-house training with experienced deputies as he begins patrolling Stanton County. His hire brings the Sheriff’s office to full authorized strength for the first time in nearly a year. “We look forward to Lucas getting through the tough training in the academy and coming back ready to serve our citizens to the best of his ability”
