At about 12:45 p.m. on Monday the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle accident that sent a 17 year old driver from Clarkson to the hospital. The accident occurred when the lone driver who was southbound, on Hwy 57, lost control of his SUV and it crossed the northbound lane striking and going through a cable guardrail and then plunged about 40 feet down the steep embankment. It’s miraculous that the SUV did not roll over during its deep descent into a field. The driver was transported by ambulance to FRHS in Norfolk for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Stanton Rescue and Leigh Fire and Rescue responded to the scene about nine miles south of Stanton Seatbelts were in use and airbags deployed.
