Norfolk man Arrested on Felony Charges at Off Road Ranch

At about 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday night the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was requested by the Madsion P.D. to have contact with a suspect at the Off-Road Ranch southeast of Norfolk in regard to a Terroristic Threats case in Madison. The suspect, Barry Nichols, 52, of rural Norfolk was contacted during which time he became belligerent and attempted to assault a deputy. He was subdued and placed under arrest for Assault and Obstructing a Police Officer. After Nichols was placed in a patrol unit for transport, he allegedly threatened to kill the deputy and his family. He was then also charged with Terroristic Threats and jailed. Nichols is on Probation for an earlier assault this summer at the Off-Road Ranch where a female was assaulted. Nichols also faces a Terroristic Threat charge in Madison County for the original case that was being investigated by Madison P.D.
